Have You Ever Seen a Car Actually Fly? Xpeng’s Wild Philippine Launch Changes the Game

When thousands gathered at the SM Mall of Asia Arena for Xpeng’s official local debut, it didn’t feel like your typical car event. Instead of just pulling the covers off a couple of shiny electric vehicles, the Chinese EV giant made a statement: they aren’t just here to sell cars in Metro Manila; they want to change how Filipinos think about getting around.

Physical AI Takes Root in Local Shores

Directly entering the market through a wholly owned subsidiary, Xpeng brought its ambitious vision of “Physical AI” to local shores. James Wu, Vice President of Xpeng Group, explained that the company’s core focus goes well beyond basic battery power. They are building a full ecosystem that ties together smart cars, humanoid robots, and actual flying machines.

The crowd got a taste of that future with two flagship vehicles. Hitting local roads first: the ultra-luxurious X9 MPV and the sleek MONA M03 coupe SUV.

From VIP Lounges to Daily Drives

The Xpeng X9 caters to families and executives looking for first-class comfort on long highway drives. It comes loaded with rear-wheel steering, a private ceiling screen, and “Zero-Gravity” reclining seats with built-in massage functions. For younger buyers, Xpeng brought out the L03. This trades heavy executive features for frameless doors, high-end audio, and 37 different cubbies for daily gear. Actress Anne Curtis also joined the lineup as Xpeng PH’s official face. She shares how both cars put through their paces. She praised everything from the seat comfort to the smart cabin layout.

Beyond the showroom floor, Xpeng showed off its hardware lineup. The “Iron”—a humanoid robot built on automotive safety standards and the modular “Land Aircraft Carrier” flying car. Both feature a ground vehicle that deploys a vertical takeoff craft at the push of a button.

Backing the Hype with Concrete Local Promises

To prove this isn’t just hype, Xpeng General Manager for Southeast Asia Sam Chu laid out concrete promises for local buyers. The brand is building a 2,000-square-meter spare parts warehouse in Manila. A 95% first-time part fulfillment rate, supported by a 5-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty and 24/7 roadside assistance. That includes a seamless charging integration inside the Xpeng app.

The brand is backing up its launch with a real local footprint. They plan to open eight showrooms and service centers across Metro Manila, Cebu, and Davao before the year ends. This will help make high-tech EVs a practical daily choice for the Philippine traffic network and local drivers.
