GAC International Philippines shakes up the EV market with the spacious, tech-loaded electric hatchback, AION UT, officially priced at Php1,068,000.
BLUE LEAF, BridgeTowne, Philippines — GAC International Philippines has officially expanded its electric vehicle lineup. They recently unleashed what they call “big car energy.” This local debut of the all-new GAC Aion UT surprisingly is packed with surprises. Positioned as the younger sibling to the popular Aion V crossover, this fully electric hatchback aims to redefine urban mobility for trend-seeking Filipino drivers. It blends a compact footprint with surprising cabin space and premium tech.
During the media launch, GAC executives highlighted the vehicle’s development philosophy. Chief Technology Officer Masato Katsumata built on a dedicated battery-electric vehicle (BEV) platform. It utilizes the principle, “Machine Minimum, Passenger Maximum” engineering approach. The Aion UT boasts a class-leading 2,750mm wheelbase. The interior features a versatile “playground cabin.” It has a butterfly-shaped ergonomic seat, flat-folding rear capabilities, and a generous 440 liters of cargo storage.
Focusing on the technology, the Aion UT features a massive 14.6-inch central infotainment screen and an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster. It comes equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and an automated intelligent driving control system.
On its safety side, it features GAC’s proprietary Magazine Battery 2.0 technology. Encased in a high-strength steel body, it generates 136 horsepower and delivers an impressive driving range of up to 500 kilometers on a single charge. This supports DC fast-charging capability, juicing up the battery from 30% to 80% in just 24 minutes.
The Aion UT comes in five stylish European-inspired colors, including Champs-Élysées Beige, Emerald Green, Rococo White, Seine Silver, and an ultra-stylish two-tone Rococo White with an Emerald Green roof. Its Elite variant is officially priced at Php 1,068,000. GAC backs the vehicle with an 8-year or 160,000 km vehicle warranty. An 8-year or 200,000 km core battery/motor warranty and two years of free roadside assistance complete the peace of mind for these new owners. An ideal car for a daily Metro Manila crawl or weekend road trips.
