Makati, Philippines – Sony Philippines officially launched the Sony FX2, the newest addition to its Cinema Line, in an immersive event that gathered creators, filmmakers, and industry leaders for a day of storytelling, innovation, and hands-on discovery.
The event was graced by Shuhei Sugihara, President and Managing Director of Sony Philippines, and Kentaro Imamura, Marketing Director, who shared Sony’s vision of empowering creators through technology and co-creation. JD Domingo, Senior Product Marketing Executive, introduced the FX2’s groundbreaking features designed to support creators at every level. “The Cinema Line isn’t just a set of cameras — it’s a promise to creators. Highlighting the launch were inspiring sessions from visual storyteller Miki Labarda and award-winning director Lee Briones, who showcased the FX2’s versatility in both filmmaking and dynamic live demonstrations. Miki debuted her short film “Before the World Gets Loud”, shot entirely with the FX2, “I think it’s perfect for young and aspiring filmmakers for whenever they have an idea and put it in writing, it is very helpful to have a camera like the FX2.” Direk Lee Briones led a live demo that put the camera to the test under fast-paced, real-world shooting conditions. When asked what they consider as the top things they consider for their shoots, Briones answered “I have encouraged all my students to look into themselves to find their places of truth. When you know your story, the equipment follows.”
The Sony FX2 is a compact full-frame cinema camera that combines professional-grade performance with a design optimized for solo shooters and content creators. It boasts a 33MP Exmor RTM CMOS sensor, BIONZ XRTM image processing engine with AI autofocus, and dual base ISO for flexibility in any lighting environment. Offering up to 15+ stops of dynamic range, 10-bit 4:2:2 recording, and Sony’s signature S-CinetoneTM color science, the FX2 delivers cinematic results straight out of the camera while still giving creators room to grade and refine in post-production. Lightweight yet powerful, it bridges the gap between aspiring storytellers and seasoned filmmakers, making high-quality cinematic expression more accessible than ever.
