The Department of Transportation and the Land Transportation Office have launched an initiative that promises 3-day License Plate Release.
Metro Manila, Philippines – Filipino motorists can now say goodbye to a long-wait for their vehicle license plates. That also includes the new system approach releasing of the Official Receipts/Certificates of Registration (OR/CR). The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) have launched a groundbreaking initiative. The Plate Registration Management Information System (PRMIS) now aiming to release vehicle plates and OR/CR within a maximum of three days.
This swift turnaround is a direct response to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to accelerate plate distribution. According to Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon, the new system eliminates the months, or even years, of delay previously experienced by vehicle owners.
Secretary Dizon emphasized that the PRMIS is a key component of the DOTr’s broader digitalization efforts, designed to provide faster and more convenient public services. “Sa ating mga motorista, makaka-asa kayo—ngayong pinilit tayo ng Pangulong Bongbong Marcos na gumawa ng paraan para pabilisin ang release ng plaka. Maximum three days makukuha niyo na ang inyong mga plaka. Noon, kailangan pang maghintay ng ating mga kababayan para sa kanilang plaka, OR/CR. Taon ang bibilangin. Ngayon, mas mabilis na!”
The DOTr and LTO will continue to collaborate closely with car dealerships nationwide to streamline the process further. The goal of achieving same-day plate releases where possible. This nationwide rollout is expected in the coming days. It will mark a significant government service efficiency for motorists.
