The Philippine motorcycle industry continues to ride strong through 2025, with the latest data from the Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association, Inc. (MDPPA) pointing to robust year-on-year growth for unit sales in the first eight months of the year.

In August 2025 alone, the industry recorded 158,228 units sold, an 18.4 percent jump compared to the 133,689 units sold in the same month last year. Overall sales from January to August of this year are now at 1,227,160 units, up by 11.8 percent from 1,098,056 units recorded during the same period in 2024.

This consistent growth in sales is largely attributed to the sustained demand for motorcycles in the country as Filipinos continue to turn to these vehicles as a practical and affordable mobility solution especially for navigating increasingly congested roads.

Earlier this year, MDPPA shared a forecast projecting a five percent overall growth for 2025, fueled by “strong consumer demand, expanding delivery and mobility services, and the appeal of motorcycles as a practical mobility option.”

Automatic motorcycles remain the top choice among Filipino buyers, with sales for August 2025 reaching 106,382 units, up 24.8 percent from 85,212 units in August 2024. Mopeds are also among the most in-demand among consumers with 21,805 units sold in August 2025, up by 3 percent from 21,177 in the same period last year. Business motorcycles also recorded strong growth with 26,399 units sold in August 2025, up by 14.4 percent versus 23,080 units from the same month last year.

The Other categories that include Street Models (standard/naked bikes, cruisers, sport, or touring models, or simply units that are commonly used or built for everyday riding), Big Bikes, Off-Road, 3 Wheeler, and Electric had a total of 3,642 units sold in August 2025 compared to 4,220 in August 2024, a difference of 578 units or 13.7 percent.

Despite declines in some segments, the industry as a whole remains in a healthy position, and we are confident that the broad appeal of motorcycles will continue to drive demand moving forward,” said Engr. Alexander A. Cumpas, MDPPA President. “This positive growth trajectory is a testament to the enduring relevance and growing importance of motorcycles in the everyday lives of Filipinos, underscoring a resilient and evolving industry.”
