Honda Foundation, Inc. (HFI) in partnership with Tamang Ride PH started 2026 by conducting the first ‘Kids on Safety’ program last January 31 at the Tanza Elementary School in Navotas City, Metro Manila. This is their latest effort in spreading awareness on road safety, this time, specifically geared towards younger children. Kids aged 7-10 years old participated in the two-weekend activity. A key highlight was HFI’s donation of 100 helmets for the kids, emphasizing the importance of discipline and helmet use, and encouraging everyone to adhere to proper safety standards from an early age.
The ‘Kids on Safety’ program aims to teach its participants the importance of road safety by explaining it through realistic situations and equipping them to be able to apply relevant practical skills in their everyday lives. It was specifically created to be simpler for younger learners to comprehend, drawing from the Tamang Ride PH Road Safety module for children, which is based on the foundations of the Honda Safety Driving Center (HSDC) program. It also incorporates elements from HSDC’s ‘Teen Smart’ module for those aged 16-18. Through these initiatives, the Tamang Ride PH movement and Honda hope to encourage people of all ages to actively stay educated and committed to practicing safe behaviors and habits on the road.
These programs, in addition to technology such as Honda SENSING and safety features available on its motorcycles, are in line with Honda’s 2050 global safety goal of achieving zero collision fatalities involving any Honda vehicle. As early as 2030, the company aims to reduce the number of these fatalities by 50%. Honda believes that road safety is a shared goal and should be done as early as possible, whether at home or within the school. This ensures that these children will grow to be more conscious and mindful, protecting themselves and those around them.
Tamang Ride PH is a nationwide road safety movement dedicated towards creating safer roads for everyone, starting with children and new drivers. HFI joined Tamang Ride PH as a ‘Road Safety Ambassador’ in 2025, with HSDC participating in the development of educational materials.
