OFFICIAL RELEASE: XPENG Philippines | PUBLISHER: ADVAI
MANILA, Philippines | October 14, 2026 — The XPENG X9, the brand’s flagship seven-seat MPV, has earned the maximum five-star rating from the European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP). This recognition highlights the ultra-intelligent MPV’s advanced safety engineering, with scores of 91% in both Crash Protection and Post-Crash Safety.
Five-Star Protection for All Occupants
According to the Euro NCAP report released on October 12, the XPENG X9 earned a five-star safety rating across all variants, demonstrating strong occupant protection in various crash scenarios. The X9 achieved impressive scores of 95% for frontal impact, 99% for side impact, and 98% for rear impact protection. Among its notable safety features is a center airbag designed to reduce the risk of injury by preventing front-seat occupants from colliding with each other during a side impact.

Class-Leading Engineering for Structural Strength and Occupant Protection
Beyond its active safety technologies, the XPENG X9 incorporates class-leading body engineering and construction techniques that set it apart in the premium MPV segment, combining exceptional structural rigidity, advanced materials and reinforced occupant protection.
At the core of its construction is an exceptionally rigid body structure with torsional rigidity of 46,000 N·m/degree, a benchmark for structural strength in its class. This is complemented by an 83% high-strength steel and aluminum construction, designed to balance impact resistance with weight efficiency. Its reinforced passenger safety cage incorporates 2,000 MPa hot-stamped steel in critical areas, including the pillars and side sills, to help resist deformation and reduce cabin intrusion during severe impacts.
Further strengthening the X9’s body structure are 19 closed circular ring structures, engineered to distribute collision forces throughout the vehicle and help preserve the integrity of the passenger compartment. Together, these advanced engineering features position the X9 among the most structurally sophisticated MPVs in its segment, reflecting XPENG’s emphasis on build quality, engineering precision and occupant safety.

Driver Assistance and Child Safety
The assessment also highlighted the X9’s advanced driver assistance systems, including Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), which provide additional protection by helping drivers avoid potential collisions. The ACC system achieved a 94% score in car-to-car scenarios, while AEB scored 87% for frontal collision avoidance. All X9 variants are also equipped with a child presence detection system that alerts the driver if a child is left unattended inside the vehicle.
Comprehensive Post-Crash Safety Provisions
The XPENG X9 also scored 91% for Post-Crash Safety, reflecting its emergency response and occupant rescue capabilities. Euro NCAP highlighted features that facilitate safer and faster rescue operations, including automatic high-voltage system deactivation, door unlocking and hazard light activation. The X9 also earned full marks for its rescue documentation, while its advanced emergency call (eCall) system¹ is designed to transmit critical information about the vehicle’s occupants and the nature of a collision to emergency services.
“The XPENG X9’s five-star Euro NCAP safety rating is an important recognition of our commitment to delivering vehicles that combine advanced technology with the highest standards of safety,” said Vince Yambao, Chief Operating Officer of XPENG Philippines. “As we introduce a new generation of intelligent electric vehicles to the Philippine market, safety remains a fundamental priority. This independent assessment reinforces our confidence in the X9 as a premium MPV that offers Filipino families not only exceptional comfort and intelligent features, but also a high level of protection and peace of mind.”
The five-star Euro NCAP rating comes just weeks after XPENG officially entered the Philippine market with its grand brand launch at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on September 25. The recognition adds to the X9’s credentials as the brand begins introducing its vehicle lineup to Filipino consumers, providing an internationally recognized benchmark for evaluating the MPV’s safety performance.
